Purchasing a used four-wheel drive can be a great investment, but hidden mechanical and safety faults can quickly become expensive repairs. CMM Automotive recently completed a Mobile Pre Purchase Vehicle Inspection Cockburn on a 2010 Nissan Navara at Purely Commercials. Our comprehensive inspection identified several mechanical, safety and cosmetic issues. These faults could influence a buyer’s decision.
Interior Inspection
We began the Mobile Pre Purchase Vehicle Inspection Cockburn by inspecting the vehicle’s interior. Our inspection found minor stains on the roof lining, which were cosmetic only. However, the windscreen washer jets required adjustment to operate correctly. We also found the air conditioning was not producing cold air. The system requires servicing before it can provide reliable cabin cooling..
Engine Inspection
Next, we inspected the engine bay and its components. The negative battery terminal was slightly loose and should be tightened to ensure reliable starting and charging performance. We also confirmed the air conditioning system was not reaching the correct operating temperature, reinforcing the recommendation for a complete air conditioning service. In addition, engine oil leaks were present at both the front and rear of the engine and should be repaired to prevent further deterioration. We also noted the rear brakes were noisy, while the ABS sensor wiring became excessively tight when the suspension was fully extended.

Steering, Brakes and Suspension
Our inspection of the steering, brakes and suspension identified a puncture in both the left-hand front and left-hand rear tyres. We also found the right-hand rear brake hose was contacting the tyre, which requires immediate attention. Furthermore, the rear ABS sensor wiring was excessively tight and should be rectified to avoid damage during suspension movement.
Body and Exterior Inspection
We completed the Mobile Pre Purchase Vehicle Inspection Cockburn by inspecting the body and exterior. The windscreen contained several stone chips, while both front headlight lenses had faded with age. We also found very minor scratches on the right-hand front guard, minor dents in the tray, and the rear tail lights were not operating correctly.
Road Test
During the road test, we detected slight tyre noise while driving, which should be investigated further in conjunction with the tyre repairs already identified.
