Soon afterwards, the LandCruiser began smoking.

Understandably, the owner became concerned that something serious had gone wrong with the engine. Rather than continuing to drive the vehicle, he contacted CMM Automotive for roadside assistance.

The timing of the problem provided an important clue.

The LandCruiser had started smoking after the owner added engine oil. This made checking the oil level one of the first steps in diagnosing the problem.

Our inspection confirmed that the engine contained considerably more oil than it required.

An extra four litres is a significant overfill. The engine needed the excess oil removed before the vehicle returned to normal operation.

What Happens When You Put Too Much Oil in an Engine?
