Before buying a second-hand vehicle, a Pre Purchase Car Inspection Wembley can reveal mechanical and safety faults that may not be obvious during a short test drive. CMM Automotive recently inspected a 2006 Toyota RAV4 in Wembley and found several issues that could affect the vehicle’s condition and future repair costs.
Interior Inspection
We began by checking the interior. The carpets and interior trims showed some damage, while the roof lining had several stains. We also found scratches in several areas of the window tinting. Several rear seat belts did not operate correctly, and the passenger seat trim had sustained damage.
Engine Inspection
Next, we examined the engine bay and its major components. The automatic transmission fluid appeared very dirty and requires attention. We also heard a minor noise from the front of the engine, along with a much louder noise from the alternator area. In addition, we heard a noise from underneath the exhaust manifold. An oil leak was also present from the lower section of the engine.
Steering, Brakes and Suspension
The braking system requires significant attention. The front brakes need replacement, and the front disc rotors had developed large wear lips. The rear brakes also require replacement. We found cracks and splits in the rear tyres, which make replacement important for safety.
During the inspection, we also identified noise from the steering rack. The steering wheel sat down towards the right, which may indicate a wheel alignment or steering issue.
Body and Exterior Inspection
The front bumper did not align correctly with the surrounding body panels, which may indicate previous accident damage. We also found scratches in the front bumper, while the plastic number plate surround was coming loose. Further accident damage appeared on the right-hand rear bodywork above the wheel arch.
Road Test
During the road test, we heard a clunking noise from the front of the vehicle while decelerating. Wind noise came from the left-hand front area, and the vehicle produced a minor front brake shudder. We also confirmed noise from the steering rack and noted that the steering wheel sat down towards the right while driving.
