Buying a used four-wheel drive without a professional inspection can lead to unexpected repair bills. CMM Automotive recently completed a Mobile Pre Purchase Vehicle Inspection Narembeen on a Toyota LandCruiser. Our detailed inspection uncovered several mechanical, safety and cosmetic faults that every buyer should consider before purchasing the vehicle.
Interior Inspection
We began the Mobile Pre Purchase Vehicle Inspection Narembeen by inspecting the vehicle’s interior. The ventilation system operated well on the passenger side but delivered poor airflow on the driver’s side. We also found the left-hand dash vents were not operating correctly. Part of the driver’s seat was missing on both sides, reducing comfort and support. In addition, the interior light did not work, the heater failed to produce sufficient heat, and the passenger seatbelt stalk was missing. We also found the rear headrests were missing.
Engine Inspection
Next, we inspected the engine bay and its components. Our battery test showed the driver’s side battery performed poorly. We also found the battery isolator was not operating correctly. The radiator cap was leaking, while the air filter vacuum lines had become disconnected. The engine produced excessive mechanical noise during operation. We also found the bonnet struts had failed and no longer supported the bonnet correctly. In addition, the exhaust system was leaking and requires repair.
Steering, Brakes and Suspension
Our inspection identified excessive play in the driver’s side front wheel bearing. We also found splits and cracks in both the front and rear tyres, making replacement highly recommended. The shock absorber bushes showed small splits, and the vehicle had incorrect wheel nuts fitted. These faults should be repaired before the vehicle returns to regular use.
Body and Exterior Inspection
We completed the Mobile Pre Purchase Vehicle Inspection Narembeen by inspecting the body and exterior. The bonnet struts were failing, confirming the fault identified during the engine inspection. We also found several dents around the vehicle, and the passenger door lock did not operate correctly. In addition, the driver’s side body panels showed rust, dents and cracking body filler, indicating previous repairs.
Road Test
Although no major road test faults were recorded, the mechanical and safety issues identified during the inspection require attention before the vehicle is considered roadworthy for everyday use.
