Buying a used vehicle without a professional inspection can lead to unexpected repair costs. CMM Automotive recently completed a Mobile Pre Purchase Vehicle Inspection Morley on a Toyota. Our inspection identified several mechanical, braking and cosmetic faults that could influence a buyer’s decision.

Engine Inspection

We began the Mobile Pre Purchase Vehicle Inspection Morley with a thorough inspection of the engine bay and its components. Our battery test showed both batteries had low capacity and may require replacement. We found oil leaks from the power steering pump and hose. Minor rust had developed on the flexible exhaust joint and sections of the exhaust system. We also identified a small oil leak at the rear of the engine. The rear differential filler plug had seized, along with both swivel hub filler plugs. Testing also showed the limited-slip differential was not operating correctly. In addition, we found minor oil blow-by around the bottom of the turbocharger.

Brakes and Suspension

Next, we inspected the brakes and suspension. Our inspection revealed worn and cracked suspension bushes throughout the vehicle. We also identified oil leaks around both swivel hubs. The front and rear brake pads had reached the end of their service life. Both front and rear brake disc rotors also require replacement. The rear tyres were low on tread and should be replaced soon.

Body and Exterior Inspection

We continued the Mobile Pre Purchase Vehicle Inspection Morley by inspecting the body and exterior. We found several minor scratches across the body panels. The left-hand rear upper pillar had a dent, and the right-hand rear wheel arch also showed damage. Both front headlight lenses had started to fade with age. We also found the right-hand front spotlight was not operating. Minor scratches were present on the rear plastic bumper.

Road Test

During the road test, we heard the brake pad wear indicators contacting the brake discs. This noise confirmed the brake pads require replacement without delay.
