Hard time for batteries

Its a very interesting time at the moment to be a Perth Mobile Mechanic! This week we have found a alarming amount of Perth Batteries failing and causing vehicles to be stranded all over Perth, With our lovely Perth winter settling in our car batteries are working harder than ever so if your battery has not been checked and its been in the vehicle for some time then its a good idea to come past our workshop for a free battery check.      Grant Payne [ Mobile Mechanics Perth]

Spark Plug Problems

Hi there well today was a very interesting day to be a Perth Mobile Mechanic !!! Today I came across a gentleman who tried to remove some spark plugs from his daughters Holden. This sounds easy enough but these spark plugs had been in the engine for way to long and when he came across number 3 plug which was very tight to remove he stopped and called us to help [smart move] we arrived and accessed the situation and professionally removed the plug and repaired the thread in the cylinder head ,    Grant Payne [Director of Mobile Mechanics Perth ]

Suspension check

A important part of a service for a Perth Mobile Mechanic is to make sure the vehicles suspension is in good working order! We carry out checks for oil leakage around the shock, check all the bushes at either end of the shock/strut for splits and also check the components when test driving after and before the service is performed.  Grant Payne [Director of Mobile Mechanics Perth]

Tail shaft checks

A very important part of a service for a Perth Mobile Mechanic when servicing your vehicle is to check for excessive play in the tail shaft of your vehicle! If there is movement in the universal joints then the tail shaft should be removed for repairs before it causes damaged to the rest of the vehicle!

Alternator check

One important check to carry out when servicing a vehicle that all good Perth Mobile Mechanics should do is to check the alternator! We do this with a simple test which is just to put a volt meter across the battery to make sure the battery is being provided with enough voltage to keep the car running correctly

Computer fault

Today was a very interesting day to be a Perth mobile Mechanic ! We were called out to look at a Ford XR6 and when we arrived there we found that the owner had bought himself a device on the internet which would allow him to make changes to his computer but when he plugged it in to his vehicle it wiped his computer causing himself to now have to buy a new one and pay for it to be programmed in! the price for this could be as high as $1500 so be careful when you are thinking about adding devices into your vehicle

Incorrect master cyclinder

Today we came across a Ford muscle car that the owner had fitted an
incorrect master cylinder to it which caused a large amount of damage to the
clutch and flywheel, you may be able to see the cracks and ring wear in the
flywheel from where the clutch has been slipping!

Importance Of Replacing Your Timing Belt

This engine damage is the result of not replacing your timing belt when your
vehicle manufacturer has recommended it !! To many times I have seen severe
engine damage like this as a result of poor or no vehicle servicing. This
vehicle was due to have a new timing belt fitted 12,000kms ago but it didn’t
get replaced and now the engine will have to be replaced costing the owner
$11,500

The Importance Of The Car Battery

These days we are finding more and more problems with vehicles caused from poor batteries. Batteries are now the brain in the centre of the vehicles electrical system and now that all vehicles speak in voltages, if the battery is in poor condition then the vehicles components are unable to communicate correctly causing serious issues. For example a week ago we had a Proton which would start and idle but its engine would not rev ? After checking the vehicles engine/ECU codes we found that there was several ‘low voltage ‘ codes ? We then checked the battery to find it was in poor condition, we then replaced it and the vehicle ran fine and the engine would again rev! Another one was a Holden Viva which would not idle and again on further investigation we found the battery was faulty, after replacing the battery the vehicle would now idle correctly. The battery should be checked each service by an  accredited technician every six months or 10000kms to prevent any possibility of battery related problems.

Dodge adding AWD to their Journey range

Dodge is adding an AWD model to its Journey range this spring to appeal to shoppers who like all-wheel drive.

Awd is optional, but Dodge is adding content and lowering the cost of awd on the Crossroad model to make it more appealing. The 2014 Crossroad has extra chrome and popular interior goodies such as leather seats and an 8.4-inch touch screen.

Journey sales were up 6 percent in 2013 to a record 83,933 units, but sales fell 27 percent in January.

The Crossroad’s exterior styling uses glossy black accents and a greater use of chrome than other Journeys. It has a redesigned front fascia with chrome accents and a glossy black grille, chrome roof rails and glossy black taillight bezels. The crossover rides on 19-inch, five-spoke black wheels.

Inside the cabin, in addition to the leather seats and Uconnect infotainment touch screen, the Crossroad has standard power front seats and a push-button starter. Rear seats come with a built-in toddler booster seat.
