A recent mobile pre purchase vehicle inspection in Ocean Reef carried out by CMM Automotive involved a 2007 Holden Astra station wagon. Although the vehicle looked tidy at first glance, our detailed inspection uncovered several faults that the buyer should consider before purchasing.

Inside the vehicle, we found the driver’s window switch was faulty and the left rear window regulator had failed. Both exterior mirrors were also faulty, while the windscreen washer bottle was not operating correctly. These issues affect both convenience and safety.

During the engine inspection

We then inspected the engine and engine bay. Several hoses showed signs of wear and should receive closer attention. The air filter box had a missing locator, allowing it to move more than it should. We heard a minor noise from the air conditioning compressor and another noise from the front engine idler pulleys. We also found small oil leaks around the gearbox that deserve further investigation.

Under the vehicle, we noticed that some of the protective plastic covers beneath the engine were missing. We also found a damaged right front hubcap. The rear brake pads and brake rotors have reached the point where they need replacement.

The body condition was generally good, with only a few light scratches on the rear bumper. However, the rear number plate light globe was not working and requires replacement to remain roadworthy.
